Job Description

Shape the future for students with visual impairments in a rewarding permanent role supporting K-22 learners. This direct hire opportunity offers you the chance to provide vital instruction and advocacy in a collaborative educational environment. As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, youll make a meaningful difference, helping students gain independence and achieve their academic goals in a supportive setting.
Required Qualifications:
Active Illinois PEL with Teacher of the Visually Impaired endorsement Experience working with visually impaired students strongly preferred Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Excellent communication and collaboration skills Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability in various classroom settings
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments from kindergarten through age 22 Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet individualized needs Conduct functional vision assessments and provide recommendations for accommodations and assistive technology Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster inclusive education Support students in building independence and self-advocacy skills Maintain regular documentation and progress reports Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to program planning and evaluation This full-time position runs Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm, providing a consistent schedule in a supportive learning community.
