Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

We're looking for dedicated Special Education Teachers (nine positions available) to support K-12 learners in specialized programs for the upcoming school year. This contract role offers a chance to collaborate with a committed team and make a real difference in the lives of students with diverse needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS 1 endorsement. Experience working with K-12 students in special education preferred. Familiarity with a variety of instructional approaches and adaptive techniques. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including assistants and paraprofessionals. Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills. Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver individualized instruction for students across all

PAEC K-12

programs, adapting curriculum as needed. Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with students, families, and other professionals. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress. Participate in staff meetings, IEP conferences, and professional development as required. Manage classroom routines and work with paraeducators or support staff. Engage in consistent, compassionate communication with families and support teams. Uphold district policies, including completion of required fingerprinting and onboarding procedures.
