This contract opportunity involves working closely with small student groups at both an elementary and a junior high campus located conveniently adjacent to one another. What you'll bring: Illinois certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain it Experience working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Strong communication and advocacy skills for collaborative work with staff, students, and families Passion for nurturing student growth in both mainstream and specialized environments Flexibility in adapting teaching approaches to meet individual student needs Commitment to fostering inclusive, positive classroom communities Your responsibilities: Provide direct instruction and accommodations to 3 students at the elementary level and 2 students at the junior high Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's abilities and goals Collaborate with general education teachers to support integration and access Use innovative and evidence-based teaching techniques to engage students Maintain detailed records of student progress and communication with families Participate in school meetings and contribute to a culture of inclusion and understanding Experience firsthand the fulfillment of helping students develop confidence, reach academic milestones, and thrive in their daily lives.
