A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
Success:
Valid teaching certification with endorsement as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Orientation & Mobility Specialist credentials preferred Experience providing direct and consultative services to K-12 students with visual impairments Deep understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials Strong collaboration and communication skills Ability to work across multiple school sites Flexibility and a student-centered approachRole Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments both directly and through consultation with staff Assess students functional vision, design IEPs, and monitor progress Travel between assigned schools within the district (subject to change) Support the development and use of assistive adaptive tools and technology Provide orientation and mobility training to enhance independence and safe navigation Work closely with families, educators, and related service providers to ensure holistic supportPosition Details:
Contract role, Monday Friday, 8:00 am 3:00 pm Involvement across several schools in the district, with adjustments possible as the assignment progresses Immediate start through 12/18, with the chance for year-long placement Take the next step in your career providing vital services to students in an engaging educational environment!
