Job Description

Make a meaningful impact by providing education and support to high school students as an ASL Teacher or Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This rewarding contract position focuses on empowering students to achieve academic success and foster a positive learning environment for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Youll play a crucial role in delivering both American Sign Language and core subject instruction to students, ensuring they have the tools they need to thrive. What you'll bring: Illinois certification to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students or American Sign Language Experience teaching high school students, ideally in a classroom or resource setting Strong knowledge of Deaf culture, communication strategies, and instructional techniques Proficiency in ASL and ability to adapt content for various student abilities Collaborative mindset to work with general educators, aides, and families Dedication to fostering an inclusive, accessible environment Your responsibilities: Deliver engaging ASL and core academic lessons tailored to each learners needs Assess, monitor, and document student progress, adjusting instruction as necessary Promote language development and self-advocacy for students with hearing differences Collaborate with school staff to create and implement IEPs and educational accommodations Encourage participation in classroom and school-wide activities Serve as a resource for colleagues and families regarding Deaf/Hard of Hearing best practices This fulfilling full-time role is based on a vibrant high school campus near Schaumburg.
