REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 elementary endorsement Successful teaching or student teaching experience Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with general education teachers, students, parents and staff Strong knowledge base of secondary curriculum Strong organizational skills Strong problem-solving skills Strong knowledge of intervention strategies and progress monitoring experience Ability to model teaching strategies to meet the needs of students' various learning styles Ability to informally assess learning and/or behavioral needs of students & address those needs using documented data
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Work collaboratively with all special education and general education staff Work under the direction of the building principal Provide instruction as determined by the students' IEPs Participate in the development of comprehensive Individual Education Plans for identified students including behavior intervention plans Provide consultation, technical assistance and training to teachers and parents of students experiencing learning or behavioral problems Provide information to parents relative to strategies that can be used at home to support the school's efforts Take responsibility for implementation of IEPs for students on assigned caseload Other duties as assigned
