Building Principal and Director of Student Services Qualifications State of Illinois fingerprinting and background check in compliance with state code and district policy requirements. Position Overview The Intermediate Self-Contained Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities within a self-contained classroom setting at Anne M. Jeans Elementary School. The teacher develops and implements individualized instructional programs aligned to students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), district curriculum, and Illinois Learning Standards. The Intermediate Self-Contained Special Education Teacher creates a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic growth, communication, independence, social-emotional development, and positive behavioral outcomes. The teacher collaborates closely with general education staff, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to ensure students receive comprehensive support and access to meaningful educational opportunities. Instructional Responsibilities Provides specialized instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting. Develops and implements standards-aligned lessons and individualized instructional plans based on student IEP goals and learning needs. Modifies curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to support student access and progress. Utilizes research-based instructional practices, interventions, and differentiated instruction to support student achievement. Implements behavior intervention plans, social-emotional supports, and positive behavior strategies. Creates and maintains a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning. IEP & Student Services Responsibilities Develops, implements, and monitors Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with

regulations, and district procedures. Collects, maintains, and analyzes student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals and instructional objectives. Participates in IEP meetings, annual reviews, evaluations, and multidisciplinary team meetings. Collaborates with related service providers, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, and social workers. Maintains accurate and timely special education documentation, progress reports, and compliance records. Collaboration & Communication Collaborates with general education teachers to support inclusion opportunities and instructional alignment. Supervises and collaborates with paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom. Maintains ongoing communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and instructional supports. Participates in staff meetings, professional learning communities, and district professional development activities. Frequent movement throughout classrooms and school environments may be required. May require lifting, assisting, or supporting students in accordance with student needs and district procedures. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated annually by the Building Principal and/or Director of Student Services in accordance with district evaluation procedures and Board policy.
