Job Description

Unlock a rewarding opportunity making a difference in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive, contract-based setting just outside of Shelbyville, Indiana. This full-time role offers the chance to foster growth and learning among students at the junior high grade level. With a consistent Monday through Friday schedule totaling 37.5 hours per week (8:20 AM to 3:10 PM), you'll work alongside dedicated educators passionate about serving all learners.
There are two dynamic openings:
Resource Special Education:
Oversee a caseload of 25-30 students, delivering instruction tailored for those requiring mild intervention. Valid Indiana certification in mild intervention is essential.
Essential Special Education:
Support a smaller group of 10 students needing intense intervention, requiring the appropriate Indiana certification in intense intervention.
Desired Qualifications:
Current Indiana teaching license with appropriate endorsement(s) for special education resource or essential roles. Experience designing and adapting curriculum for diverse learning styles and abilities. Strong collaboration and communication skills to engage with students, families, and staff. Adept at maintaining accurate student records and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with students IEPs. Assess student progress and adjust strategies to support academic, social, and emotional development. Collaborate with general education staff, support personnel, and families to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment. Participate in case conferences and maintain compliance with district and state requirements.
