Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting opportunities are available for passionate Special Education Teachers committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of students. This contract position is based full-time at a junior high school near Shelbyville, IN, providing support to students in either resource or essential special education settings. You'll collaborate with dedicated staff to create an inclusive environment, utilizing your expertise to adapt and deliver individualized instruction while fostering student achievement. Two roles are open to candidates with appropriate Indiana licensure: Resource classroom: Caseload of approximately 25-30 students; requires mild intervention certification.
Essential classroom:
Caseload of around 10 students; requires intense intervention certification. Both roles operate Monday through Friday, 8:20 AM to 3:10 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week (please note, specific times may vary).
Qualifications:
Valid Indiana teaching license with appropriate special education endorsement (mild or intense intervention) Prior experience in a school-based setting preferred Strong communication and collaboration abilities Commitment to fostering inclusion and differentiation Ability to implement IEPs and work effectively with diverse learners
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver instruction and support tailored to IEP goals Monitor student progress and document outcomes Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service staff Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse needs Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
