Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in the classroom by supporting students with complex communication needs and challenging behaviors. This full-time contract opportunity offers you the chance to work in lower teacher-to-pupil ratio classes, assisting learners with Autism and related disabilities. The assignment will follow the school calendar with a Monday-Friday schedule (35 hours per week), and the duration runs from ASAP through May 27, 2027.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Associates Degree, OR ParaPro assessment score of 450 or higher, OR at least 48 semester credit hours (district requirement) Prior classroom experience required Ability to read and interpret IEPs Comfortable working with students exhibiting aggressive or challenging behaviors Experience with students with Autism or related disabilities Strong understanding of de-escalation techniques (CPI training, de-escalation certification, and significant behavior management experience preferred, not required) Current CPR Certification preferred Must pass a drug test, fingerprinting process, and background check, as per district credentialing standards
Key Responsibilities:
Assist instructional staff in day-to-day classroom activities Support students in both small-group and one-on-one settings within lower teacher-to-pupil ratio classes Help implement behavior support plans and IEP goals Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students Accurately document behavior incidents and progress as directed by teaching staff and school administration
