Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or related field (with emphasis on Visual Impairment or Special Education preferred) Valid teaching certification specific to Visual Impairment (TVI) Experience or training working with children and youth with visual impairments in school settings Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility resources Strong communication and organizational skills Collaborative approach to working with teachers, support staff, and families
Your Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver tailored lesson plans for students with visual impairments, ensuring accessibility and compliance with IEPs Assess student needs and progress, utilizing appropriate instructional methods and adaptive materials Integrate Braille and/or large-print materials and technologies as needed Consult and collaborate with other educators and therapists to foster inclusive classroom environments Advocate for student accommodations and effectively communicate with families regarding their child's progress Maintain accurate records and contribute to team meetings to support each student's goals Enjoy the security of guaranteed hours and the satisfaction of seeing tangible growth in students' confidence and independence.
