Teacher in Charge 504 Cambridge Rindge & Latin School
Cambridge Rindge & Latin School Community:
Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS) is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English, History, Mathematics, and Science); Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12. The mission of the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School is to provide a quality education to every student through rigorous, comprehensive, and personalized teaching and learning. The Opportunity:
The Cambridge Rindge and Latin School seeks a Teacher in Charge of 504's to join our caring and innovative community. The successful candidate will have experience working with adolescents. A candidate with teaching experience is preferred. They will have an understanding of and experience with special education and learning plans. As a professional, the teacher in charge of 504's will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of our school community. Moreover, they will be fully committed to continuously learning, improving, reflecting, and working together to ensure that all students achieve at high levels. Please note that this position is currently funded for the 2025-2026 school year, with the possibility to extend based on continued funding.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare for, convene, and chair all 504 team meetings for CRLS students Write all
CRLS 504
plans, whether they are an initial, annual review, or re-evaluation Serve as the CRLS College Board SSD Coordinator Follow up with classroom teachers and families in cases of reports of non-compliance. Coordinate participation of team members in 504 plan meetings and implementation, including but not limited to classroom teachers, general education social workers, school counselors, and Learning Community Deans Ensure fidelity to district practices, procedures, and policy as related to 504 plans Provide professional development and support, and communicate regularly with CHA nurses, related services, school psychologists, general educators/support staff, as they relate to Section 504 processes If necessary, complete academic and cognitive testing for initial or 504 reevaluations Monitor and support classroom teachers in compliance with theof the provision of accommodations and services, and equipment. Connect staff with specialized support staff when needed: Perkins, Assistive Tech, Hearing, Behavior Specialist, Adaptive PE Work closely with SEPAC, parent liaisons, and other district offices to ensure students and their families are connected to resources and information Maintain a shared Google Drive with the CPS Coordinator of 504's. Support teams with gathering necessary information for Evacuation planning, Health Plans (IHP), Emergency Action Plans, Safety Plans, and transition from BRYT Provide training for general education staff around disability awareness, behavioral and teaching strategies, and accommodations Communicate with CRLS families and students, gather feedback on processes, and improve access to information about Section 504 Work closely with district social workers, outside healthcare, and mental health providers as needed Ensure FERPA and HIPAA compliance is met Coordinate annual transition meetings from CPS grade 8 to CRLS grade 9 Attend regular professional development and stay up-to-date with state and federal regulation changes Receive any incoming private school learning plans and determine next steps as appropriate for CRLS Other duties as assigned
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Teacher in Charge 504, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications: Understanding of and experience with Section 504, 504 plans, and accommodated learning. Previous experience working with adolescents. Teaching experience preferred. Experience working with a multicultural student population in an urban school setting. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
Massachusetts DESE Certification:
School Psychologist required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body. A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel. Possess and demonstrate exemplary counseling and communication skills.
