This contract role will serve students with hearing differences, providing guidance, instruction, and advocacy to help them thrive academically and socially. By working closely with multidisciplinary teams and families, youll foster a learning environment tailored to each students unique needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting Proficiency in sign language (ASL or other relevant systems) and familiarity with assistive auditory technologies Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Ability to adapt instructional materials and teaching methods to individual abilities Dedicated to fostering inclusion and accessibility in the classroom
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that address each students strengths and needs Provide direct instruction using evidence-based strategies tailored to students with hearing loss Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other specialists to ensure consistent support Advocate for students communication access and help facilitate the use of assistive listening devices Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and strategies for support at home Participate in team meetings, professional development, and the broader school community as needed Joining this dedicated team gives you the opportunity to inspire growth, promote independence, and shape positive outcomes for students with hearing differences.
