A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Special Education Teacher- Muddy Brook Regional Elementary School ( K-4)Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in the area of assignment. MA Teaching Certification. Certification as a Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities (all levels) preffered.Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise and experience working with students on the autism spectrum, students with developmental and cognitive disabilities, and medically complex students in grades PK-4. Demonstrated ability to develop modified curriculum and lessons to develop academic, social/emotional/behavioral, independent living skills and Data collection and data-based progress monitoring is an essential Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed records and to ensure compliance with state and federal educational standards and Other qualifications as established by the District.
