A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Massachusetts teaching license or endorsement as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Bachelor's or master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related discipline Previous experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing Knowledge of Massachusetts requirements for deaf and hard-of-hearing services in educational settings School-based experience preferred Ability to work with diverse age groups and manage a varied caseload
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver a combination of direct and consultative services to a caseload of approximately 43 students Guide staff and classroom teachers in best practices, accommodations, and assistive technology for students with hearing differences Support student communication and access within the classroom Develop, monitor, and implement IEP goals, collaborating with team members during meetings Conduct or participate in assessments, track student progress, and maintain accurate documentation Foster positive partnerships with students, families, interpreters, audiologists, and related-service providers This part-time, flexible schedule (three days per week) allows you to make a significant difference while maintaining work-life balance.
