These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all stakeholders.Position Summary:
School for Exceptional Studies is seeking a dedicated Crisis Paraprofessional to support students with special education needs, particularly in grades 9 and 10. This role focuses on the development of the whole child-academically, socially, and emotionally-by implementing individualized supports, behavior interventions, and inclusive practices in both general and specialized classroom settings.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support for special education students
- Implement strategies to support the development of the whole child
- Manage student behavior, particularly within substantially separate classroom settings
- Support the implementation and progress monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with students, families, and staff to ensure IEP goals are met
- Participate in meetings related to IEP development and student progress
- Support delivery of high-quality curriculum that aligns with IEP goals
- Apply proactive, positive behavior management systems
- Collect and analyze behavioral data to inform support strategies
- Promote and assist in the inclusion of students into general education settings
- Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to support student needs
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the
Principal Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of special education practices and behavioral strategies
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Capacity to implement behavior modification plans and data tracking
- Ability to collaborate with educators, specialists, and families
- Understanding of inclusion practices and classroom accommodations
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
- Organizational and time management skills
- Commitment to equity and supporting diverse learners
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree or ParaPro certification preferred
- At least one year of experience working with students with disabilities
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate certifications, if required
