Northshore Academy Lower School is a specialized therapeutic education program dedicated to supporting students with emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges. Our mission is to provide a structured, nurturing environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth for students in grades 1-6. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our students.Position Overview:
The Special Education Teacher will develop and implement individualized instruction, provide behavioral and academic support, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure student success. This role requires an educator who is patient, compassionate, and skilled in working with students who require additional therapeutic and behavioral interventions.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans aligned with students' IEP goals.
- Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that fosters academic and behavioral success.
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to support students with emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges.
- Work closely with therapists, counselors, paraprofessionals, and families to provide a comprehensive support system.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and crisis prevention strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and actively participate in IEP meetings.
- Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and student empowerment.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.Certification:
Valid Massachusetts Special Education teaching license.Experience:
Prior experience working with students in a therapeutic or special education setting preferred.Skills:
o Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation. o Expertise in behavioral intervention strategies. o Ability to de-escalate challenging behaviors and provide crisis intervention. o Excellent communication and collaboration skills. o Commitment to fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment.
