    Position Summary
  • -The Mendon-Upton Regional School District is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for a short-term contracted position at Nipmuc Regional High School. This position will provide coverage for maternity leave and will support students primarily within the high school's inclusive educational settings.
  • -The Special Education Teacher will work collaboratively with general education teachers and other members of the special education team to provide specially designed instruction and support to students with disabilities.

Responsibilities will include co-teaching within inclusion settings as well as providing small-group pull-out instruction based on students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  • -This position offers a short term opportunity for new or retired educators to work in a collaborative and supportive high school environment. Nipmuc Regional High School has approximately 600 students and approximately 80 students with disabilities.
    Essential Responsibilities
  • -The Special Education Teacher will:
  • -Provide specially designed instruction and services in accordance with students' IEPs.
  • -Provide co-taught instruction within general education/inclusion classrooms.
  • -Provide small-group pull-out instruction to students based on their individual needs and IEP requirements.
  • -Collaborate with general education teachers to plan and implement accessible, standards-aligned instruction.
  • -Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
  • -Participate in appropriate IEP Team meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of students' IEPs.
  • -Utilize appropriate instructional strategies, accommodations, modifications, and supports to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • -Collaborate with special education staff, related service providers, administrators, and families as appropriate.
  • -Maintain accurate and timely student records and documentation.
  • -Follow all district policies and procedures related to student safety, confidentiality, professional conduct, and special education service delivery.
  • -Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:
  • -Valid Massachusetts Moderate Disabilities (Moderate Special Education) teaching license.
  • -Experience providing special education services in an inclusive setting is preferred.
  • -Knowledge of effective co-teaching practices and specially designed instruction.
  • -Ability to provide both classroom-based and small-group instruction.
  • -Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • -Commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive educational environment.
