This contract opportunity supports a small classroom of students aged 18-21 with learning, communication, and behavioral needs in a public separate day high school setting. The self-contained classroom operates with exceptional para support (2-3 staff), allowing for strong collaboration as you deliver engaging instruction in ELA, Math, and Vocational subjects. An alternate curriculum enables you to creatively tailor lessons that best serve each students unique path to success. Ideal candidates bring expertise and compassion to special education, ready to guide students as they transition to adulthood. A comprehensive schedule offers a consistent routine with dedicated planning time and a duty-free lunch, ensuring you have the space to innovate and recharge.
Desired Qualifications:
Maryland Special Education License with High School Endorsement (required) Strong background working with students with learning, communication, and behavioral needs Experience in alternate curriculum and vocational instruction is highly valued Excellent classroom management and collaborative skills Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and empowering environment
Key Responsibilities:
Lead instruction for a caseload of six students in ELA, Math, and Vocational subjects Collaborate with paraeducators and related services to implement individual learning plans Adapt curriculum and assessments to meet student needs Provide a structured, positive learning environment that supports independence and growth Communicate regularly with families and support teams This rewarding assignment runs through early June 2027, offering stability and the chance to build lasting relationships with students and staff in a forward-thinking school.
