Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role shaping the lives of elementary students as a Special Education Teacher. This full-time contract opportunity begins immediately and offers the chance to make a profound impact through the end of the 2026-2027 school year. You'll work with a vibrant 4th-grade caseload of 15 students in a collaborative Resource/Co-Teaching environment. Each day brings variety and purpose—supporting exceptional learners as they reach new academic and personal milestones in an inclusive school setting.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Valid Maryland Special Education Teacher license required Previous experience with elementary-aged students preferred Strong collaboration skills for co-teaching and team settings Ability to develop and implement IEPs to meet diverse learning needs Commitment to fostering a supportive, positive classroom atmosphere Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide targeted instruction and supports for a resource/co-teaching 4th-grade classroom Partner with general education teachers and school staff to deliver differentiated lessons Write and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students Assess and document student progress, tailoring approaches as needed Promote a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues Utilize innovative teaching strategies to inspire student growth and independence This position offers the reward of daily connection with students and room to grow alongside a supportive educational team.
