Qualifications & Desired Experience:

Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Visual Impairments, or a closely related field Experience working with K-12 students who are blind or have low vision Strong knowledge of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible materials Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff Ability to create and adapt lesson plans for a range of visual abilities Compassion, patience, and a solutions-focused mindset

Responsibilities:

Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments as outlined in their IEPs Assess students' unique visual needs and recommend appropriate accommodations or modifications Instruct in Braille, orientation and mobility concepts, and the use of assistive devices Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accessible learning environments Support classroom teachers by adapting instructional materials and strategies Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and goal setting Advocate for students' inclusion and equal access to educational opportunities Elevate your career by supporting students' academic and functional independence while enjoying the flexibility and professional satisfaction of a contract position.
