Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting students' growth and success in a behavior classroom environment for grades 5-8. This is a full-time, onsite contract opportunity, ideal for a dedicated Special Education Teacher interested in making a real difference. The position offers 37.5 hours per week, providing consistent engagement with students and the school community.
Key Qualifications:
Active Special Education Teacher certification issued by the state of Maine Experience working with students with behavioral needs preferred Familiarity with IEP development and implementation Excellent communication and collaboration abilities Ability to foster a positive, supportive environment for diverse learners Strong classroom management skills across upper elementary and middle school grades Commitment to professional growth and adapting to different learning needs
Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality instruction based on IEP goals, aligned with individual student needs Develop and modify lesson plans for students in grades 5-8 within a behavior classroom Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including general education teachers, therapists, and families Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation Implement behavioral strategies and supports to encourage positive student outcomes Create an inclusive, respectful classroom climate Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
