A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.
Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Full Time Teacher to inspire and nurture young learners in a dynamic educational environment. We have three positions available currently including 12-18 month classroom, 2-3 yr classroom and a floating position. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive curriculum plans tailored to early childhood development standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and social-emotional learning. Create a stimulating classroom environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and respect among students. Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement and behavior management strategies. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about student progress, milestones, and any concerns to foster strong home-school connections. Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods to monitor child development and tailor instructional approaches accordingly. Incorporate special education techniques and early intervention strategies to support diverse learning needs. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress reports, and incident documentation in compliance with mandated reporting laws. Ensure safety by adhering to first aid and CPR protocols and maintaining a safe classroom environment at all times. Qualifications Proven experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including preschool or daycare environments. Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, curriculum development, and early childhood education best practices. Experience with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies. Familiarity with special education needs, early intervention programs, and Montessori or other specialized teaching methods is preferred. Excellent communication skills for effective parent engagement and team collaboration. Ability to plan engaging lessons that incorporate literacy education, math skills, physical activities, and social-emotional learning. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing professional development in childhood welfare is highly valued. Knowledge of mandated reporting laws related to child welfare is essential. Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies for diverse learners including toddlers, preschoolers, and children with special needs. Experience working within private or public school settings is advantageous but not mandatory.
