York Middle School is seeking an energetic, skilled, and collaborative Special Education Teacher to join our dedicated team. Middle school is a critical developmental bridge, and we are looking for an educator who excels at balancing high-quality specialized instruction with student self-advocacy, and executive functioning support.

Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver direct, evidence-based specialized instruction in core academic areas (reading, writing, mathematics) in both pull-out and push-in settings.

Design and implement accommodations, modifications, and executive functioning supports tailored to individual student profiles.

Utilize positive behavior interventions and supports to create a structured, predictable, and supportive classroom environment.

Serve as primary Case Manager for assigned students, maintaining strict adherence to Maine Unified Special Education Regulations timelines and procedures.

Draft compliant, data-driven Individualized Education Programs , including measurable annual goals, baseline metrics, present levels of performance, and accommodation grids.

Facilitate IEP team meetings and write comprehensive, legally defensive Written Notices that document team decisions and data-based rationale.

Track and issue formal IEP progress reports aligned with district marking periods.

Supervise, schedule, and direct classroom Educational Technicians to ensure fidelity of service delivery, accommodation implementation, and daily data collection.

Model instructional and de-escalation strategies for support staff.

Partner closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and building administrators to ensure cohesive service delivery.

Maintain frequent, transparent communication with parents and guardians to bridge school and home supports.
