Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into an impactful role supporting students' educational journeys as a Special Education Teacher with a contract opportunity serving both elementary and middle school learners in a resource setting. This position offers the chance to shape young lives in a positive, collaborative environment. Two openings are available—one at the elementary level and one at the middle school level. Please indicate your preferred age group during the application process. You'll collaborate closely with school staff to address individual learning needs and foster an inclusive atmosphere where all students can succeed.
Desired Qualifications:
Current and active Michigan Special Education Teacher license (documentation required with application) Experience or strong interest in resource classroom settings Commitment to individualized instruction and differentiated learning strategies Excellent communication and teamwork skills Adaptable, organized, and passionate about student growth
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement IEPs for a caseload of approximately 10 elementary students or 11 middle school students Deliver targeted instruction and support in resource classrooms Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families Monitor, track, and report student progress, adjusting plans as needed Maintain an organized, supportive classroom environment Engage in professional development and ongoing training
Assignment Details:
Contract through June 10, 2027 (tentative) 35 hours per week Elementary schedule: 7:55 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.
Middle/High schedule:
7:35 a.m. - 2:40 p.m.
Locations:
East Leroy Elementary and Athens High School Compensation:
