9662579-49021 Job Description Embark on a rewarding opportunity working with elementary and middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a resource classroom setting. This contract position offers two openings, allowing professionals to specify their preference for either an elementary or middle school caseload. You will provide targeted instructional support to a manageable group of students, fostering academic growth and positive development in a collaborative educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
Active Michigan Special Education (SPED) teaching license (submit proof with your application) Experience supporting students in resource or inclusive settings Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations Ability to collaborate with fellow educators, support staff, and families Effective communication skills and a positive, student-centered approach
Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities Case manage a caseload of approximately 10 elementary or 11 middle school students Work in partnership with general education teachers to implement IEPs and modifications Track and document student progress, maintaining compliance with state and federal guidelines Participate actively in IEP meetings, staff training, and professional development Create a supportive, inclusive classroom climate that encourages student participation Adjust teaching techniques and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles This position features a consistent 35-hour workweek and follows school bell schedules at both elementary and high school sites, allowing for work-life balance and predictability.
