Special Education Virtual Facilitator (Edustaff position)
Reports To:
Principal and Director, Student Support Services Position Summary The Virtual Special Education Facilitator provides support to virtual (online) Speech Pathologists, Social Workers and School Psychologists. The Virtual Facilitator will work one-on-one with students, escorting them to and from their class and supervising/assisting the student as they meet online with their Speech Pathologist, Social Worker or Psychologist. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support lesson plans, activities provided by the virtual specialist.
  • Supervise children and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Support children's social, emotional, cognitive and language development through interactions and activities provided and facilitated by the virtual specialist.
  • Assist with transitions and daily routines.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respectful behavior and positive relationships.
  • Support children with varying learning needs and abilities.
  • Communicate relevant information regarding student behavior, participation, and concerns to virtual specialist and administrators.
  • Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and maintenance of learning centers.
  • Follow all district policies, licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and training as assigned.
  • May assist as a Lunch Aide or Student Support(Medical) Aide as needed Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working with school-aged children is preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices .
  • Ability to effectively manage young children and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow plans and work independently during classroom coverage assignments.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification, if required. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the classroom and school
  • Ability to actively supervise children during virtual services. Work Environment This position works in a school setting. The facilitator may support one or more virtual professionals and work with students throughout the day who are receiving these services. Building(s) to be determined. Terms of Employment
  • School-year position following the district/program calendar.
  • Full time position, 7 hours per day plus 1/2 lunch.
