POSITION
Special Education Teacher (Verellen Elementary and Cramer Junior High)
POSITION START DATE

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement (SM, SE, SA, SV). Demonstrated knowledge of middle school instructional practices and curriculum. Knowledge of IDEA, MARSE, Section 504, and FERPA Experience working within or understanding the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Ability to effectively work with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary job goal for this position is to plan and implement instruction in both co-teacher and self-contained classrooms Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning Work with, understand, and implement Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) including a special focus on early interventions Work with or understand Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds Serve as a case manager, ensure all IEP processes and documentation are compliant with local, state, and federal guidelines Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, administration, ISD, and families Have an unwavering commitment to believing that all students can learn Have an unwavering commitment to positively engaging families in the education process Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA and district policies. Participate in professional development activities Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds. Follow and implement all Board of Education policies, administrative guidelines, and building regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee. Special education grade level assignments may change in the future depending on special education needs across the district.

$43,501-$70,516 per EHEA Contract
