Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education professional in an onsite role. If you hold a CI (Cognitive Impairment) certification and are passionate about making a difference, this position offers the chance to work closely with a dedicated team and help guide a young student's educational journey.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Michigan CI (Cognitive Impairment) teaching certification required Experience supporting students with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) needs strongly preferred Skills in behavior management and fostering mental health Team-oriented approach, committed to collaboration with multidisciplinary professionals Understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting lesson plans Strong communication with students, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction focusing on cognitive, behavioral, and social-emotional growth for a student aged 8 or 9 Participate as part of a full care team to support the student's development Develop and implement customized learning and behavioral strategies Monitor progress and adapt teaching methods to best meet individual needs Maintain thorough documentation and collaborate on IEPs and reports Engage with caregivers and educational staff to ensure consistent support

7:30 AM - 2:45 PM, Monday through
