A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Hours:
Monday - Friday (hours TBD)
Responsibilities:
Assist the lead teacher with classroom preparation and organization. Support individual and small group learning activities. Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment. Provide one-on-one support to students who need extra help. Assist with setting up and cleaning up learning materials and classroom supplies. Monitor student safety and well-being throughout the school day. Record observations on student progress and report to the teacher. Encourage social skills and cooperation among students. Support students with self-care routines and independence skills. Assist in implementing lesson plans and educational activities. Communicate respectfully with students, teachers, and parents as needed. Participate in professional development and team meetings.
