WHAT WE NEED:
A positive contributor to our tight-knit Early Childhood community to serve as lead teacher for a morning preschool class, ages 2.5-5 years old. All students have special needs and will require developmentally appropriate instruction in all aspects of their day including eating, communicating, playing, academics, gross motor, fine motor, sensory, social/emotional learning, behavior, activities of daily living, etc. In the afternoon, this person will co-teach Kindergarten students in an inclusion setting.
WHAT YOU NEED
A valid Michigan teacher's certification with Special Education endorsement and ZA Early Childhood endorsement, ZS Early Childhood endorsement, or ZN Early Childhood General and Special Education. Preference will be given to candidates who also possess an Autism (SV) or Cognitive Impairment (SA) endorsement. Experience working with preschool-age children with disabilities Experience with alternative forms of communication Must be CPI trained or willing to be trained with annual refresher courses Ability to develop positive relationships with students, staff, and families Ability to facilitate student learning, growth, and achievement Ability to research and incorporate research-based instructional strategies for instructional design and delivery Possess a superior level of content knowledge and pedagogical skills Collaborates and consults with educational teams to implement strategies that focus on the interrelationship of language processes of listening, speaking, reading, and writing and literacy development for students Ability to differentiate instruction for individual learners Experience with integrating technology into the learning process Ability to maximize technology for effective communication with staff and parents Ability to build professional and collegial relations with staff and parents Ability to adapt, learn, and grow as an educator Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function Ability to maintain compliant records in a timely manner Collects, analyzes, and interprets various formal and informal assessments and evaluation strategies to evaluate and modify interventions to support the educational program. Ability to evaluate young children for achievement and developmental progress using standardized tools Ability to create and implement positive behavior intervention plans to increase classroom participation of young children Must be willing to assist with personal care needs of young children including toileting, dressing, and personal hygiene. Participates in building and district-level staff meetings, in-service activities, staff development/special programs, school improvement teams and planning committees as appropriate to the assignment. Adheres to District policies and procedures as well as professional, ethical and legal standards of practice. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job including but not limited to: walking, kneeling, sitting on the floor, rising from the floor, bending, and lifting at least 30 pounds. Maintain a safe and hazard-free work environment.
