Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into an impactful role supporting young learners as a Developmental Cognitive Disabilities Teacher at the elementary K-2 level. This full-time contract position starts at the end of February and runs through early June 2027, offering you the opportunity to make a long-lasting difference. You'll work weekdays from 8am to 4pm, providing specialized instruction to a caseload of approximately 10 students in a nurturing, resource-rich setting.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher license required Experience teaching students with developmental cognitive disabilities strongly preferred Solid understanding of best practices in individualized education planning and implementation Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with general educators, support staff, and families Ability to create and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in a K-2 classroom Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive environment that supports social, emotional, and academic growth
Responsibilities:
Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) targeting student growth in cognitive, academic, and social domains Adapt curriculum and apply targeted interventions to meet diverse learner needs Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional approaches as needed Engage closely with families and communicate regularly about student goals and achievements Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to align strategies and maintain a team-focused approach Uphold all compliance requirements and district standards for special education services You'll find fulfillment as you empower young minds and see tangible progress daily.
