Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference every day as a DCD Special Education Teacher supporting elementary students in a dynamic setting III program. You'll work with a dedicated group of six kindergarten and first-grade students, each needing compassionate assistance with personal care, communication, and daily learning activities. This contract position begins as soon as possible and continues through June 7, 2027, offering steady, consistent hours from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher license required Experience with students in grades K-1 strongly preferred Familiarity with developmental cognitive disabilities (DCD) Skilled in supporting children who require assistance with toileting, eating, and use of communication devices Ability to create individualized and inclusive learning environments Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with paraprofessionals and related service providers Compassionate and patient approach to children with a range of abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality instruction in alignment with individualized education plans (IEPs) Provide hands-on personal care support, including toileting and eating needs Implement and manage the use of communication devices and adaptive technology Regularly assess student progress and adjust strategies to maximize growth Communicate regularly with families, caregivers, and staff about student goals and progress Maintain a positive, structured, and safe classroom environment You will become an integral part of a caring educational community, shaping young lives and advocating for each child's potential.
