Job Description

Make an immediate impact supporting students in a specialized learning environment as a contract paraprofessional just outside Elk River, MN. This role assists learners from elementary through high school at a setting 4 site, where students receive special education services throughout their day. The caseload consists of individuals with significant needs, including the highest behavioral and cognitive challenges, so comfort and experience in intensive special education settings are essential. Start date is September 8, 2026, running through June 10, 2027. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 32.5 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Must be Highly Qualified as a Paraprofessional by either : Passing the Minnesota Board Paraprofessional/ParaEducator Exam (documentation required), OR Completing at least 60 college credits (must provide transcripts; diplomas/degrees are not accepted) Experience with students exhibiting significant behavioral or cognitive disabilities highly preferred Willingness and ability to assist students with toileting or personal care needs Adaptable to work with students from elementary through high school (indicate age group preference, if any) Strong teamwork, patience, and communication skills
Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on academic, behavioral, and personal care support to students in a special education setting Implement individualized education plans in collaboration with teachers and support staff Assist with toileting and personal hygiene as required Help foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students Communicate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive school culture Pay for this opportunity is $20 per hour. After 422 contract hours, candidates may transition to direct hire status.
