A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

River Valley Education Center The SouthWest Metro Intermediate District #288 has a Full-Time opening for a STEM Teacher at River Valley Education Center and St. Boni Education Center. Description:
STEM and Special Education Teacher, 8 hours a day for 185 Contract Days. Educate, plan, teach, facilitate, and evaluate students identified as having a disability. Many of the students exhibit social, emotional, cognitive and/or behavioral needs that require a significant level of support.
Job Summary:
Provide support by working directly with students to increase their academic, social/behavioral, communication, and study skills under the direction of the teacher(s).
Qualifications :
Math, Science, or Technology and Autism Spectrum Disorder or Emotional Behavior Disorders licenses (District may consider Special Permissions) Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction. Strong classroom management skills. Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents and staff. Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and Restrictive Procedures is required and provided by the District. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams.
Pay & Benefits:
