9682680-55115 Job Description Make a meaningful impact supporting young learners as a Developmental Cognitive Disabilities Teacher working with students in kindergarten through 2nd grade. In this full-time, contract position, youll be based at a well-regarded elementary school where you will have the opportunity to nurture growth for a caseload of approximately 10 students. This role begins at the end of February and continues through June 4, 2027, offering stability and the chance to build lasting relationships with students and colleagues.
Key Qualifications:
Valid licensure (or eligibility) to teach Special Education in Minnesota. Prior experience working with students who have developmental cognitive disabilities, especially in elementary settings, is highly desirable. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students unique needs. Patience, empathy, and a passion for fostering accessible learning environments.
Responsibilities:
Deliver differentiated instruction and interventions for K-2 students with developmental cognitive disabilities. Create a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and growth. Develop individualized lesson plans and monitor student progress toward IEP goals. Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding student successes, challenges, and strategies. Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and administrative staff to support student success. Youll work full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8am to 4pm, gaining valuable experience as you make a real difference for students at a crucial stage of their educational journey.
