Shakopee Public Schools is searching for a 1.0 FTE Special Education (SpEd) Evaluation Teacher to join the team for the 2026-2027 school year.Job Summary:
The Special Education Evaluation Teacher conducts comprehensive educational evaluations and functions as a member of the building-based special education team in providing services to students. The Evaluation Teacher must understand due process and evaluation/IEP procedures, manage paperwork, as well as communicate effectively and develop working relationships with families and staff.Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree. Valid MN licensure in a Special Education category such as ABS, SLD, LD, EBD, etc. Valid MN licensure in multiple Special Education categories preferred. Previous experience in special education evaluation preferred, but not required. Additional qualifications include: Ability to meet the needs of diverse learners, complete due process paperwork, and implement district, state and federal mandates. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community, staff, etc. Knowledge of Minnesota categorical disability areas and how to effectively apply criteria. Knowledge of resources within the district for providing services to students. A working knowledge of the district's computers and student management software systems. Knowledge and application of assessment tools and due process procedures. Ability to administer and interpret a variety of assessment tools. Working knowledge of multiple disabilities. Ability to work with children of various ability levels. Demonstrate a working knowledge of special education laws, rules, and regulations and the ability to apply these to help ensure district compliance. Knowledge and current certification in the Crisis Prevention Institute's Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Ability to exercise confidentiality in handling district information.Pay & Benefits Information:
