Their role is to engage students in dynamic, interest-based learning that supports creativity, critical thinking, and college readiness. By designing meaningful lesson plans, fostering a supportive classroom environment, and participating in program activities, elective teachers play a vital part in encouraging students to explore new ideas, develop academic confidence, and build essential life skills. Primary Function of Organizational Unit The TRIO Upward Bound Program is a federally funded initiative that provides academic support, college preparation, and personal development services to first-generation and low-income high school students, helping them succeed in high school and pursue postsecondary education.
