Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Discover a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated professional seeking a contract role as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This position offers a chance to make a significant impact by providing specialized support to a diverse group of 20-23 students with varying visual needs. The role is fully onsite, with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours in an educational environment that values both expertise and compassion.
Qualifications and Experience:
Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License/Certification required Demonstrated experience working with students who have varying visual impairments Capacity to adapt instructional materials and learning strategies to meet unique student needs Strong collaborative skills to work with general education staff, related service providers, and families Excellent communication, organizational, and time management abilities
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and support services to students with visual impairments across different grade levels Perform student assessments and develop individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team Modify curriculum and educational materials for accessibility in braille, large print, or assistive technology Consult with classroom teachers and staff regarding classroom adaptations and inclusion strategies Serve as an advocate for student accessibility across all school activities Participate in team meetings, professional development, and parent conferences as needed
