A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. Fun exciting opportunity, seeking a leader to the General Education & Interventions Teacher provides individualized academic instruction, intervention services, life skills education, and social-emotional learning (SEL) support to middle and high school students (Grades 6-12) . This position works one-on-one and in small groups to help students achieve academic success while developing confidence, independence, self-regulation, and essential life skills. The teacher also leads group SEL lessons, collaborates with staff and families, and supports the whole-child approach to education. Essential Duties & Responsibilities/Academic Instruction & Intervention Provide individualized and small-group instruction and academic support in the following subject areas: Reading English Language Arts (ELA) Mathematics Science Social Studies Deliver individualized interventions based on student learning needs. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning styles and academic levels. Conduct academic assessments and monitor student progress. Develop intervention plans and maintain student progress documentation. Reinforce classroom instruction and support students with accommodations and modifications. Assist students with executive functioning, study skills, organization, homework completion, and test preparation. Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to improve academic achievement. Collaborate with teachers, families, and student support teams to ensure student success. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Provide individualized SEL coaching and mentoring. Plan and facilitate weekly group SEL lessons and activities. Teach emotional regulation and self-management strategies. Help students identify, understand, and appropriately express emotions. Teach coping skills for anxiety, frustration, stress, and conflict. Foster positive peer relationships and healthy communication. Teach empathy, respect, resilience, and responsible decision-making. Promote self-awareness, self-confidence, and leadership. Implement restorative practices and positive behavior supports. Serve as a trusted mentor and advocate for students. Professional Experience Current or previous experience as a: Licensed Teacher Intervention Teacher General Education Teacher Special Education Teacher School Counselor Case Manager Mental Health Professional Behavior Specialist Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Qualified Professional (QP) Therapist or Therapy Assistant (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Recreational Therapy, or Mental Health) Youth Development Professional Academic Coach or Tutor Social Worker Or another related educational or human services professional. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Experience providing one-on-one instruction, intervention services, mentoring, counseling support, or student coaching preferred. Knowledge of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), behavior management, trauma-informed practices, and positive youth development. Ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs. Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and relationship-building skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working with students and families. Strong classroom management and positive behavior support skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
