Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Current certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments, preferably in an educational environment Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment for students with visual impairments Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working alongside teachers, staff, and families Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student goals and school initiatives
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and consulting services for students with visual impairments across various grade levels Assess students' functional vision and learning needs, recommending and implementing appropriate modifications Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum materials and ensure accessibility Train staff and support teams in use of Braille, large print, and assistive technologies to foster student independence Serve as a knowledgeable resource for families, empowering them to support their child's academic and developmental progress Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records as part of a multidisciplinary education team This contract role provides the unique chance to empower students, fostering greater independence and success in their learning environment.
