Job Description

The Barrington School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary School Special Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with diverse learning needs and a commitment to providing an inclusive, supportive classroom environment. This role involves working with students to deliver specialized instruction, implement individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborate with colleagues to support the academic, social, and emotional development of students with disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
New Hampshire Certification as a Special Education Teacher 2-5 Years of Experience

Building Principal/Assistant Principal and Director of Student Services
COMPETENCIES
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies. Knowledge of current, research-based teaching techniques and methodology. Knowledge of subject content Ability to work independently or with a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, projects, and assignments Knowledge of required educational software, such as NHESIS, PowerSchool, Goal Book, etc. Work effectively with students, staff and parents .
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs in accordance with district guidelines and state regulations. Provide direct instruction to students in both small group and one-on-one settings, adapting lessons to meet the needs of each student. Work closely with general education teachers to differentiate instruction and provide accommodations to ensure all students have access to the general education curriculum. Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed to support student growth. Collaborate with school staff, including special education team members, administrators, and support staff, to develop and implement appropriate interventions. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including progress reports and IEP documentation. Assist in the development of behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) for students as needed. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about best practices in special education and inclusive teaching strategies. Foster a positive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student independence, self-advocacy, and growth. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program Uses informal and formal assessment procedures, such as, but not limited to, diagnostic achievement tests or classroom observations, to assist with the provision of appropriate services Prepares progress reports and year-end evaluation, administering pre-tests and post-test as necessary Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems Performs other duties as may reasonable be assigned by the Building Principal or Director of Student Services
