Promote the educational growth of students, commensurate with student ability as described in individualized educational plans (IEP). Ability to relate to culturally diverse students desired. Qualifications Valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification and/or valid New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped Willingness to work with students with diverse needs. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills Possess the physical and mental capacity to perform major job responsibilities including but not limited to the ability to lift 50 pounds. Physical Requirements The employee must demonstrate physical strength, agility, and energy to perform essential job functions and to ensure health, welfare, and safety of all students and of self. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the employee to perform the essential functions of the job: sitting, standing, reaching, walking, lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, finger dexterity, carrying, repetitive motions, speaking, listening, and visual acuity. The employee must lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds.
