A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Employment Terms:
Full-time, Leave Replacement position, Not eligible for health insurance benefits Position is associated with the terms and conditions of the negotiated Agreement between the Educational Association of Paramus (EAP) and the Board of Education.
Reports To:
Supervisor of Special Services/Principal Job Goal(s): Responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that supports academic achievement, social-emotional development, and critical thinking skills for students. The teacher will foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that aligns with district curriculum, state standards, and best instructional practices.
Qualifications:
New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped Certification OR Teacher of Students with Disabilities and Elementary Certification Language Arts/ELA-Specialization preferred
Salary:
$57,547.00 (BA, Step 1)
