Special Education Teacher | Bernalillo, New Mexico

Job Description

Make a meaningful impact on students' lives by providing vital support as a Special Education Teacher in a full-time, contract position serving K-3rd grade. This opportunity is based near Bernalillo, NM and focuses on a social communication classroom, allowing you to utilize your expertise and dedication in a rewarding educational environment. Start as soon as possible and work through the end of the school year (6/4/2027), collaborating with school staff to deliver quality instruction and specialized support to young learners with diverse social communication needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid New Mexico teaching license and NMPED credentials required Previous experience teaching special education, preferably grades K-3 Skilled in classroom management and adapting lessons to individual students Familiarity with social communication strategies and interventions Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with families and school teams Comfortable with virtual interview process (Zoom)
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to individualized education programs (IEPs) Support positive student engagement and foster a nurturing classroom environment Track and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records in compliance with district requirements Work with multidisciplinary teams to support academic, behavioral, and social goals Communicate regularly with families to ensure progress and provide resources
