A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Overview To provide students participating in the PASS program with individualized academic and special education support that enables them to reach their fullest physical, emotional, psychological, and behavioral potential while promoting academic success, and personal growth. Partnership for Alternative Student Success (PASS) The PASS program is an alternative program designed to support students who need to participate in the school community in an alternative manner. The program is designed around the core values of caring and traditional restorative justice, which support individual success by building self-esteem and community relationships. To do this, the program utilizes the following components: Family Conferencing Academic Support Behavioral and Mental Health Support Cultural Mentorship Prevention and Intervention Education Life Skills Leadership Skills Community Service Requirements Valid NM Special Education Teaching License. Experience teaching Native American students preferred.
Pay:
$58,000.00 - $82,211.00 per year
