Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Job description: New York Therapy Placement Services, Inc, is seeking bilingual and monolingual Special Education Itinerant Teachers (SEITs) for multiple cases across all of Nassau County for the rest of the 2025-2026 School year and for the 2026-2027 School year. SEITs provide direct 1:1 teaching to preschoolers in UPKs, preschools, daycares and homes. We have additional opportunities for SEITs to provide parent training (in-person or via teletherapy if approved by district).
Job Responsibilities:
Maintain positive relationships with parents, teachers, related service providers and supervisors Evaluate and assess student needs Utilize positive behavior support strategies Adapt teaching methods and provide resources to meet the needs of the student Follow all mandates on IEP Plan activities/lessons to target IEP goals/objectives Take data on the goals/objectives to track progress Complete sessions notes and service coordination Complete quarterly progress marks Complete annual review report(s) Attend CPSE meeting(s) for student(s) •
Job Qualifications:
Must Have New York State Certification:
Students with Disabilities (Birth to grade 2) Strong written and oral communication skills Must plan and prioritize work effectively Professional, dependable and responsible Must keep to strict deadlines for reporting as is required Bilingual Language Extension for bilingual cases

SEIT Supervisors Pay Range:
$60-80/hourly depending on certification, background and experience Teachers will receive one FREE PD voucher for any PD workshop on NYT University when they start their first case.
