Who we are:
Congregation Emanuel of the Hudson Valley (CEHV) is a vibrant, egalitarian, socially active, and community-focused synagogue. In CEHV's Zimet Jewish Learning Adventure (ZJLA) program, our goal is to inspire lifelong joyful engagement with Jewish community. For our newly-added Young Families class (children 0-3 years, accompanied by parents), our approach emphasizes music, movement, creativity, building relationships among children and families, and cultivating the Jewish values of care and kindness in our youngest community members.
Position description:
1-3 hours/week. $28/hour. The Young Families class takes place from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. every other Sunday during the school year (Sept.-June). The Young Families teacher's core duty is planning and leading a fun, engaging children's program centered on music, movement, and Jewish themes. (Children's parents will be present to perform basic childcare tasks.) In addition to leading the one-hour class every other week, the teacher is expected to devote an additional hour to planning each class. An ideal applicant would … Have experience working with or entertaining young children. Be able to perform and lead songs. Be familiar with Jewish songs and holidays. Be dependable and communicative. Be upbeat, charismatic, and friendly with children and their families.
