A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Each child is paired with a 1:1 aide who implements the child's ABA program. The Special Instructor will oversee the classroom, support and monitor the aides, and ensure each child's program and IFSP goals are being addressed appropriately. Responsibilities also include writing session notes for each child, documenting progress toward IFSP goals, and completing progress reports every six months. Applicants must hold a valid NYS certification in Special Education or Students with Disabilities Birth-Grade 2 OR
LMSW/LCSW.
Early Intervention Center Based experience is preferred but not required.
Pay:
$75.00 - $85.00 per hour
