We are looking for someone who understands that meaningful learning may look different for every child. The ideal candidate will be patient, engaging, flexible, and skilled at meeting a child at their current developmental level while building communication, independence, academic readiness, and functional skills. Responsibilities Provide individualized 1:1 special education instruction in the home. Develop engaging, developmentally appropriate learning activities based on the child's strengths, needs, and interests. Support early academic and school-readiness skills, including literacy, pre-writing, numeracy, attention, and task participation. Incorporate play-based, sensory-friendly, and hands-on learning opportunities. Support functional communication and opportunities for the child to express choices, needs, and preferences. Promote independence with age-appropriate daily routines and learning activities. Implement and reinforce individualized educational goals. Collaborate with the child's Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), Occupational Therapist (OT), Physical Therapist (PT), family, and other members of the child's support team to encourage consistency across therapies and instruction. Participate in community-based learning opportunities when appropriate, such as trips to the library, park, museum, or other educational settings. Maintain brief documentation of activities, progress, challenges, and skills addressed during each session. Assist the family in identifying meaningful educational goals and monitoring progress over time. OT, PT, and Speech Therapy Qualifications Preferred:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Education, or a related field NYS Special Education/Students with Disabilities certification or comparable credential Experience providing individualized instruction to autistic children Strong understanding of child-led, strengths-based, and developmentally appropriate teaching Excellent communication and collaboration skills Reliable, patient, energetic, and creative Experienced Special Education Teachers, Early Childhood Special Education Teachers, SEIT providers, Learning Specialists, and retired Special Education Teachers are encouraged to apply.
